Sunsets and swimming with dolphins!

So this weekend I managed to cross 2 major things off my bucket list and I just had to share!!!

1: Watching the sunset on the beach
I've always wanted to do this and as I leave Australia in 2 weeks my time is running out so on friday night me and my family grabbed our swimming stuff and raced down to the beach to catch the sunset. It was one of the most amazing experiences of my life, seeing the sun start to set and the reflection on the water is truly one of the worlds greatest sights. Here's some photos from that night :)

2: Swimming with wild dolphins
Swimming with dolphins has always been at the very top of my bucket list and on Saturday I finally managed to do it!! I went on a tour with Rockingham Wild Encounters and it was the best day of my life. My auntie bought me a voucher as an early birthday present and we were both so excited! We had to wear wetsuits (the most unflattering thing in the world!) and snorkels and we went out into the Rockingham bays on the search for dolphins. The man said sometimes it can take up to 5 hours to see them but we found the first group after 5 minutes! After this we had really good look and saw about 4 different groups. Being able to get so close to them and hear the sounds they make and how they interact with each other in their natural habitat was aaaa-mazing!! Once in a lifetime opportunity and I will never ever forget it. Not got that many photos :( Only downside to the day!

Have you ever seen the sunset on the beach? Or swam with dolphins?
Leave me a comment :)

30 Day Blog Challenge: Day 1

A photo of yourself and a description of how your day was

So here is day 1 of my 30 day blog challenge!! I'm so excited to be doing this :)
(A day late I know, but I was poorly yesterday!)

This morning I woke up and felt so ill. Had a really bad headache, a sore throat and just generally felt like shit! It was absolutly pouring it down too and I didn't bring anything waterproof to Australia with me. I did not want to get out of bed at all but I I was up, dressed and out the house for half 7! I went to a little cafe on the Mandurah Foreshore called Merchants Tea House for breakfast and sat with a croissant, a pot of tea and my kindle for like an hour watching the weather outside- there is literally nothing better to do when it's raining!!

I then went to the hairdressers and finally got my hair sorted out. It's been in such bad condition recently from the constant home bleaching and over straightening so I booked myself in for a deep treatment, highlights and a cut! After feeling pooey all morning it was the best pick me up :) As you can sort of see in the photo I've had a sort of side fringe cut back in and I had 3 different colours of blonde highlights in. My hair looks and feels better than it has done in ages!!!!

After a quick stop off at subway for lunch I got a taxi home and crawled straight into bed where I didn't move again until the following morning. When you're feeling poorly there is nothing better than putting your comfiest pjs on, getting a hot water bottle and getting into bed! So my day wasn't too exciting, hope I feel better tomorrow.

See you tomorrow! J x

30 day blog challenge

Hey :)

First off I just want to apologise for my blog at the minute- I'm new at it and I know.. It's showing! I'm still getting the hang of things and even though I'm not writing many posts at the minute I'm constantly researching for ideas and hints and tips. (If anyone can help me get my head around htmls then this would be much appreciated!!!!)

I've decided that I want to try and blog at least 3/4 times a week but I think I need a kickstart, which is where the 30 day blog challenge comes into play. I'm going to do a post daily and whilst doing this I'm going to be trying products out, researching popular posts and keeping you updated on my life!

So please, bear with me and I promise it will get better x

So here it is.. The 30 day blog challenge!

Mandurah Crab Fest & Eyres Action Sports Games- 16th & 17th March 2013

This weekend saw the 15th annual Channel Seven Mandurah Crab Fest taking place on the Mandurah foreshore. The festival is a celebration in honour of the local Blue Manna crabs. Market stalls and food counters run by local businesses popped up all down the foreshore and 1 of my favourite bars M on the Point opened up a fully licensed bbq area which they called M on the Bay where of course I had to stop off for a pint of cider! There were street entertainers, face painting, fireworks and even a free perfomance from the Australian Idol runner up Shannon Noll.

The Crab Fest played host to the Eyres Action Sports Games for the fourth year running which were held on the Halls Head side of the foreshore and on the Peel-Harvey Estuary. The Games included water sports & skate and BMX competitions. There was a bikini contest (the girls had the most amazing bodies!!), a red bull DJ and a fully licensed bar!

As this is my first time in Australia, I've never been to the Crab Fest and didn't know what to expect but I loved it so much I went on both Saturday and Sunday this weekend with my family. It's one of the best weekends I've had since I've been in Australia and that's saying something because I've done so many amazing things here! On the Saturday I spent most of my time watching the Wakeboarding at the Mandjar Bay course. I've never really been interested in water sports and I don't think I would watch them on TV back at home but watching it live right in front of me was so amazing. I got so into it! Both the men and women were amazing and you could tell why there were the worlds best! They were all competing for the prize money of $300,000!!!!! This didn't stop quite a few of them falling into the water and having to be rescued by the life guards on jet skis. This was my favourite part- there's just something I love about watching people fall down!! (Does this make me mean or do you agree?!)

On Saturday I tried a crab wrap from the Red Manna food stall which was aaaamazing. The Red Manna is one of Mandurahs most popular restaurants. I've never tried crab before but I am now a massive lover. I love the fact that all food served was local! On Saturday night me and my family took a picnic and ate whilst listening to the live music from Jonny Taylor and Shannon Noll who were both amazing. The atmosphere was incredible and it was so spectacular to be a part of it! After Shannon Noll had finished his set there was a massive fireworks display where I managed to take some amazing photographs. I think that the fireworks at the Crab Fest were better than the New Years Eve ones at the same place. The Sunday also involved watching the wakeboarding but this time I managed to get a seat in the Merchants Cafe which looks out over the estuary so I watched everything going on whilst sat with a chocolate milkshake mmmm.

I had the best weekend and I'm so upset that next year I won't be there to enjoy it all over again! If you ever get the chance to go to Perth or even Mandurah during march then make sure you check this out- 10000000% recommend.

Did any of you go to the Crab Fest this year? Or ever been to it? I'd love to know what you
thought of it!

NOTD Review: Collection 2000 Electric Dreams & BC Co Silver Glitter

Collection 2000 Hot Looks Nail Polish - Shade 56 Electric Dreams
*Spend £4.99 on selected Collection 2000 products & get a free Extreme 24h Felt Tip Liner*
BC Co. Nail Varnish in Shade 3

The first nail polish I've been using is from the Collection 2000 Hot Looks collection in shade 56 which is Electric Dreams. Can I just say I'm so annoyed with myself. I bought this nail varnish just before I came to Australia (which was nearly 4 months ago!!) and I've just recently found it in the bottom of my suitcase- unused and unloved. I can't believe I forgot all about it. I bought it from my local Boots in around late October last year for £1.99 (Bargain!) when I was going through a stage of only wearing blue on my nails. I'm not joking, for about a month I didn't wear any other colour and for someone who changes their nail varnish daily this is a big deal!

I love the teal colour of this polish with the cool green undertones. Reminds me of the sea and summer which is never a bad thing! On the label it says "For maximum colour intensity apply 2 coats" and this is exactly what I do. Even though the polish is quite thin the colour is still really intense so if you don't want your nails too bright then I would suggest just only one coat. Once on the nails the polish looks high gloss and shiny even without a top coat on. The bottle also claims that it dries in 60 seconds. Sooooo many nail polishes say that they are fast drying but not many live up to it. This is an exception. I can paint one hand and by the time I've finished painting the other the polish is dry! This is a god send for someone like me because I am always smudging my polish because I'm so impatient. As I work as a waitress my nail polish is constantly getting chipped but this colour surprisingly didn't chip as much as some more expensive brands.

The other nail polish I've been wearing on my ring finger is the silver glitter (Shade 3) from BC Co. I bought this from KMart which is an Australian retail store for $2 which is about £1.40. I've searched all over the internet for this brand but I can't find a link anywhere for it. I've bought quite a few nail polishes by this brand recently so if I find any where else to buy them I will update this post!! I've loved the whole style of painting the ring finger on each hand in a different colour than the rest of the nails. I just think it adds something to the overall look of the nails. This naill varnish is aamazing for the money. For $2 I didn't expect anything special but the glitter is really small flecks which still allows the colour underneath to show through. The only bad thing about this polish is the same for every other glitter polish I've ever used.. trying to get it off is annoying!! Cotton wool just drags through and takes some work to get it off but this is just a small price to pay for pretty glitter nails :)

Final thoughts: Love love love this nail look!! For £1.99 the Collection 2000 polish is an absolute steal and as soon as I land back in the UK I will be investing in more shades from this collection, hopefully the offer will still be on! (See above). The BC Co glitter is amazing too, I just wish it was easier to remove!!

Have you tried any polishes from this collection? Leave a link to your NOTD and I'll have a little nosey :)

Review: Rimmel Lasting Finish By Kate Lipstick - Shade 16

Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick by Kate in shade 16

I've been lusting after this lipstick for so long after reading only positive reviews. Rimmel has always been one of my favourite high street makeup brands and Kate Moss is one of the all time super models so I was super excited to try her collection out- 2 of my favourite things combined- how could I resist?! It was my bargain of the day! I picked it up in Coles (an Australian supermarket) on the reduced section for around $4.00 (This is about £2.70!!). I had to stop myself from fist pumping in the middle of the aisle! If you are ever in the beauty section of Coles make sure you look on the very bottom shelf. There are always loads of great products reduced.

I have light blonde hair and naturally quite pale skin so I normally tend to go for light pink lipsticks as I think these suit my complexion more than most darker shades. The shade I bought was number 16. It is was the light pink/coral colour that I instantly fell in love with. The swatch photo below shows the 2 different tones in it. I've worn it so much over the past few weeks that my Auntie actually asked me the other day if I was bored of it yet (answer- no!!).

There literally isn't 1 bad thing that I could say about this lipstick. The colour is sheer but doesn't require a large number of coats like some other lipsticks (This is a pet hate of mine!). The lipstick claims to be long lasting and I can say that it does live up to this. I can put it on in the morning before work and by the time lunch time arrives it is only just starting to fade. The moisturising element is also a benefit as I have naturally dry lips and some lipsticks can stick in the cracks of dry skin but this lipstick gives a good coverage. It has a really girly smell which only adds to how much I love it!

Final thoughts: After a lot of hype to live up to, this lipstick did not let me down! It's now firmally up there in my favourites and I'm excited to try some more of the collection.

Have any of you tried this lipstick? I'd love to know if you love it as much as I do!

25 facts about me!

Seen as this is my first blog post (argh exciting!!) I thought that it would be a good idea to give you a bit of backround on me! My favourite blogs are the ones where after reading a few posts you feel like you know the writer! So here it is.. 25 facts about me!

1: I seem to have the most difficult name in the world to spell! Jaime Leigh Heathcote. Everyone from teachers at school, people at work and even some friends seem to struggle spelling it!

2: I'm 18 years old, 19 next month! Boo hoo, I want to stay 18 forever.

3: I'm from Manchester and live in a little town called Audenshaw. It's genuinely the best place to be a teenager! The shopping and nightlife is amazing. Couldn't imagine growing up anywhere else!

4: I left college last year after studying law, religon & sociology and decided to take a gap year. It's the best thing I've ever done.

5: I'm currently living in Australia although I fly home next month! My Auntie and Uncle live in a town called Mandurah, 50 minutes outside of Perth and invited me over for the summer.

6: I'm genuinely obsessed with my Cat. It's actually worrying. He's grey and white & called Jim and he'll be 2 in June. I'm sure he'll be a regular part of my blog.

7: I have the most varied taste in music. I love anything from Ed Sheeran to Lower than Atlantis to Justin Bieber!

8: I have 4 younger siblings. 2 sisters and 2 brothers and I can't imagine loving anyone more than I love them! I'm such a stereotypical overprotective big sister.

9: I am THE worst singer ever but this doesn't stop me. My friends and family describe my voice as "a cat being strangled" which I just think is a bit harsh!!

10: I'm obsessed with travel. I've got a list in a little notebook of all the places I want to visit in the world. I'm determined to have been to every continent at least once in my life.

11: I love anything that is pink! My bedroom is pink, my camera is pink, my laptop is pink and my nails are normally a shade of pink too. I'm such a girl.

12: I absolutely hate bananas. The taste, smell and texture of them makes me gag- eurgh!

13: If I could only drink 1 drink for the rest of my life it would the Frijj chocolate fudge brownie milkshake. It's the nicest thing ever.

14: I'm obsessed with horoscopes and read mine everyday. I'm a Taurus and my personality fits it perfect.

15: I'm so independant it's weird. I love doing things on my own. Coming to Australia has brought this out in me even more. I've spent hours exploring Perth on my own.

16: I love nights out and always manage to drag my friends out with me! There's nothing better than your best friends, cheap drinks and good music!

17: I look identical to my mum when she was my age. Sometimes  I see photos and can't tell if it's me or my Mum. So weird.

18: When I first meet people I'm so unbelievably shy. I don't know what it is, I just find it hard to be myself. But as soon as you get to know me you will realise what an absolute freak I actually am!

19: I struggle to say my "R's" in some words. I'm like a female Johnathon Ross. My friends take the mick out of me constantly for my mini speech impediment.

20: I'm obsessed with twitter (@jlheathcotex) and am constantly updating it with rubbish!!

21: I attract embarrassing and awkward moments. Without fail, I get some sort of bad luck every day. Normally in front of a large group of people or a good looking boy.

22: I think I have s.a.d disorder. I'm soooo happy when it's sunny but as soon as I get cold my mood just darkens and I'm horrible to be around. Best thing about winter is the cute jumpers and scarves.

23: I love buying presents for people. I like to think I'm good at choosing things for people. I always try to make them personal so I know they'll love them.

24: I spend at least an hour a day, if not more watching weird videos on Youtube. My favourite videos are definitely cute cat ones!

25: I'm only 5ft 2" :( This makes it so hard to buy leggings/jeans that fit. It's also a pain trying to take photos with your best friend who happens to be 6ft!!
